by 50 cents to fund health care in Massachusetts—

Here’s your chance to add your name to the chain!
Health Now! Massachusetts is collecting the names of Massachusetts residents who support increasing the tobacco tax by 50 cents in Massachusetts to expand health care access. These names will be written on hospital bracelets and presented to the joint committees on health care and taxation.
Here’s what the 50-cent tobacco tax would do:

Increase health care coverage for uninsured adults, many of whom work but can’t afford health insurance.
Expand the role of Community Health Workers, who reach out to ethnic and linguistic minorities.
Decrease tobacco consumption among youth by about 7% -- and decrease tobacco consumption in the general public by about 5%.
These goals won’t be accomplished without this tobacco tax!
